The public consultation document included a post paid questionnaire that provided the public with the opportunity to consider what issues are important to them and make comments on the health investment plan.

Summary of the Results

159 questionnaires were returned and the results show a good degree of support for the philosophy and aims of the health investment plan. There is a good degree of consistency in the results with agreement on the most important issues that the plan should incorporate.

The most important issues for the new local care centres are:

  • They should be located on a bus route.
  • They should have plenty of parking
  • They should be easy to get to on foot.
  • They should be easy to get to by car.

For the new hospital the most important issues are:

  • The building should be easy to change and adapt for new services and equipment.
  • There should be plenty of parking.
  • It should be easy to find your way around the building.
  • There should be somewhere to eat of drink.

When accessing healthcare the important issues are:

  • Ambulances should be able to get to the hospital fast and without delays.
  • Local health services should provide the majority of the services your need without having to travel to another hospital.
  • You should be able to get to the hospital by car.
