Survey Shows Public Support for the Health Investment Plan The
North West Anglia Community Health Council and Patient Forum are
conducting a series of public surveys on the proposals contained
in the health investment plan. The proposed local care centres are seen to be of great benefit by the majority of the public, although there was limited support for the inclusion of GP surgeries. 23% of people want a local care centre in the city, 14% in the Ortons and 12% in Yaxley or South Lincolnshire. The vast majority of the public also support the idea of developing the roles of GPs and nurses to provide a range of services currently located in the hospital and increasing the number of hospital consultants who run clinics in the community. The
public were asked to consider which of the three options for Peterborough's
new hospital will best meet the demands of the growing
population and allow the expansion of accident and emergency,
maternity and children's services.
