Staff Review Department Designs
The
Project Office has been buzzing with activity during the past week as
26 Design Groups undertake a detailed review of the departmental
designs proposed by the two Bidders. The review has been undertaken
using the NHS Achieving Excellence in Design Evaluation Toolkit (AEDET).
The toolkit provides a detail framework for the evaluation of
every aspect of a health care facility, from purely technical matters
such as engineering systems, to the quality of the patient
environment. There are ten key evaluation elements divided into 71
criteria and over 280 specific measures.
The members of the Design Groups have been drawn from every part
of the local NHS and have included patients and carers. They have been
using their own experiences and clinical knowledge to ascertain how
well the two Bidders proposals meet the requirements set out in the
tender documents.
This work will supplement the feedback received from the public
during the design exhibitions held in November 2004. All the results
are being collated ready for the final design scoring sessions in late
January 2005.
