Outline Planning Application Approved The outline planning application for the hospital development at the Edith Cavell site was approved by the Planning and Environmental Protection Committee of the City Council at their meeting on 9 July 2002. The approval is conditional on the Trust reaching agreement with the Highways Authority on proposals to deal with any congestion problems that arise on the A47 access to Bretton Gate due to the increase in traffic caused by the development. Final approval has been delegated by the Committee to the Acting Head of Planning Services and the Committee Chairman. Project Director, Chris Banks, was at the meeting and said afterwards, "We are very pleased that the City Council has approved the application. We have worked very closely with the planning officers to ensure this development will not only provide the best healthcare services for the people of Peterborough, but will also be a building of civic importance to the city." The Trust and their transport advisors Atkins will be meeting with the Highways Authority and the Planning Officers during the next few weeks to agree the strategy for dealing with the impact of the development on local roads and public transport.
